Content of practicals: 1. Work safety regulations and laboratory works organization. 2. Density measurement. 3. Mechanical oscillation studies. 4. Measuring of moment of inertia. 5. Measuring of module of elasticity. 6. Measuring of gravitational acceleration. 7. Verification of law of conservation of energy and momentum. 8. Measuring of tense surface. 9. Measuring of dynamical viscosity. 10. Verification of equation of state for ideal gases. 11. Measuring heat capacity of metals. 12. Measuring thermal conductivity. 13. Solar ray collector studies. 14. Final lesson.

Learning outcomes
|
Students will be made aware of laboratory works in the area of mechanics and thermodynamics. Substance density measurement, moment of inertia measurement, gravitational acceleration measurement, tense surface measurement, viscosity measurement, elasticity module measurement, thermal conductivity measurement, heat capacity of metals measurement, verification of the equation of state for ideal gases, verification of law of conservation of energy and momentum, mechanical oscillations studies, solar ray collector studies. Students fulfil all tasks and hand in completed protocols.
Understanding the area of mechanics and thermodynamics on an experimental level.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Development of laboratory protocols
Elaboration of protocols from all tasks. The average number of points from all protocols must be at least 14 out of 20 points. The minimum number of points for recognition of the protocol is 11 inclusive.
