Course content
1. Kinematics of mass particles 2. Dynamics of mass particles 3. Work, power and energy, conservative and dissipative fields 4. Motions in gravitational field 5. Mechanics of mass points system 6. Mechanics of rigid body - I 7. Mechanics of rigid body - II 8. Continuum Mechanics 9. Fluid Mechanics 10. Classical thermodynamics and molecular physics - introduction, internal energy, heat, temperature, ideal gas equation of state 11. Laws of thermodynamics 12. Kinetic theory of gases 13. Transport phenomena in gases and liquids, phase transitions, capillary action

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Class attendance - 52 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of Mechanics, Molecular Physics and Thermics. This knowledge will provide the student with a broader overview of physics, will serve for a comprehensive education in general physics and successful study of other difficult parts of physics.
After completing the course, the student is able to orientate himself in the problems of Mechanics, Molecular Physics and Thermics, he is able to independently solve difficult problems and examples from Mechanics, Molecular Physics and Thermics.
Basic knowledge of high school physics and mathematics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

Active participation in lectures and 80% attendance at seminars. Completion of 70% examples from exercises, answering at least 80% of the content of the questions from both areas of mechanics, molecular physics and thermics.
