Course content
Content of lectures: 1. Basic concepts and measurables. 2. Basic laws - postulates, I. II. and III. law of thermodynamics. 3. Ideal gas and its properties. 4. Basic reversible change of an ideal gas. 5. The solution of selected irreversible changes of state of an ideal gas. 6. The behavior of real gases. Van der Waals equation. 7. State changes, phase transitions and balances. 8. Function of heat machines. 9. Basics of chemical thermodynamics. 10. Heat transfer - conduction, convection and radiation. A one-dimensional heat conduction - basic cases. Free and forced convection. Heat transfer with phase change. Basic cases of mutual radiation between two bodies. 11. Combined cases of heat transfer. 12. Gas dynamics. Isentropic flow, normal shock wave. Flow nozzles and diffusers. Content of practicals: Calculation of exercises accompanying the lectures

Learning outcomes
Teach students the basics of thermodynamics and thermomechanics, acquaint them with principles, which govern behavior of systems.
Understanding the thermodynamic behavior of systems and their mechanical manifestations. Ability to calculate thermodynamic processes - heat conduction, calorimetry, thermal machines, phase transitions, change of quantities in thermodynamic processes.

Assessment methods and criteria
Systematic student observation, Combined exam

Criteria for obtaining the course credit (zápočet): At least 50% active participation at exercises, at least 50% points from the final test (calculation of exercises). Criterium for passing the exam: At least 50% knowledge of the topic contained in the two drawn test questions.
