Course content
1. Introduction - physics and experiment, presentation of scientific results, scientific databases (WoS, Scopus). 2. Physical quantities and their units. 3. Physical measurements and methods. 4. Direct and indirect measurements - determination of measurement error. 5. Distribution function - Gaussian distribution 6. Errors of measurement - mean square error, the average probable error. 7. Data processing, interpolation, fitting of measured dependencies (least squares). 8. Accuracy of measurement instruments and devices. 9. Software for data processing - basic philosophy of programs (Excel, Origin, Statistica) 10. Text editor (Word), standards for scientific writing, typesetting of formulas, tables. 11. Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide the necessary theoretical background for successful graduation of physical practices, presentation of measurements and writing scientific reports. Students will acquire knowledge of measurement methodology, statistical data processing, processing of measured data and their subsequent presentation.
Student gain knowledge that enable them to efectivelly work in physical as well as technical laboratories. They will have knowledge necessary for successful measurement, processing of measured data and their appropriate presentation.

no restrictions, basic knowledge of mathematics and physics

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar work, Development of laboratory protocols, Interim evaluation

Understanding of the topic within the frame given by the plan. Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes: credit: attendance of seminars, min 75%, passing the test to min 75%, carry out a seminar work.
