Course content
The course includes the following topics that are taught: Social assistance; People in need; Life and housing in old age; Social problems among young people; Communication in doctor's offices and in hospitals. The teaching is focused on acquiring professional vocabulary and practicing professional communication in the health and social field. The required entry level to participate in the course is B1 according to the Common Framework of Reference for Languages.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Activating (simulations, games, drama), E-learning
  • Preparation for classes - 30 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 5 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course includes the following topics that are taught: Social assistance; People in need; Life and housing in old age; Social problems among young people; Communication in doctor's offices and in hospitals.
The student understands the terminology of the health and social field and is able to work with the literature, is able to find technical information, and to manage communication situations in which they will encounter during their studies and future career.
Prerequisites
The required entry level to participate in the course is B1 according to the Common Framework of Reference for Languages.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Test

Credit: Credit will be granted upon successful completion of the course requirements (presence and active participation in class debates, presentations regarding given topics, final written test). Exam: The examination is based on a PP presentation regarding an assigned topic related to the student's programme and a subsequent discussion.
