Course content
Lectures: 1.Theory and practice of management (management and its functions, process and psychological social approaches to the management). 2.Planning (meaning, strategy, SWOT analysis, marketing mix, instruments of marketing mix, specifics in health care). 3.Organization (conception and meaning, span of management, organizational structures). 4.Selection and positioning of workers (analysis and description of work places, selection of workers). 5.Leadership (theory of behaviour, effective style of leadership, leadership of a team). 6.Motivation of workers. 7.Performance management and evaluation of workers. 8.Communication (principles of a good and effective communication, conflict prevention and solution of conflicts). 9.Control (conception and functions of control in the management, follow-up and preventive control). 10.Application of the management theory in health care.

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as a theoretical complex. The actual knowledge of current theory and practice of management is the content of this subject. The attention is paid not only to the management process (planning, organizing, selection and positioning of staff, leadership of people, control), but also to other problems of modern management (performance management of a worker, evaluation of a worker, communication, etc.) The mission of the subject is: - To acquire a comprehensive overview of knowledge base of management and approaches to its application in practice (with an emphasis on the sphere of health and social services). - To teach students to apply knowledge gained in practice.
In the study of this subject, students will acquire a general overview of management and its function in the organization. After completion of the subject, students are able to apply the basic managerial approaches and methods in practice.

Activity and initiative at lessons and successful pass out of the final test.
