Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to the relevant literature of the subject. 2. Terminology, historical development and perspectives of ethics. 3. Codes of ethics. 4. Principles of professional conduct and behaviour in the helping professions. 5. Christian ethics. 6. Relation to life. 7. Ethical dilemmas and methods of solving them. Seminars: 1. Professional literature and its use. 2. Ethics as a social science discipline. 3. Hippocratic reference, Aristotle. 4. Specifics of the helping profession. 5. Origin and development (critique) of Christian ethics. 6. Ethical dilemmas. 7. Evaluation and discussion.

Learning outcomes
Students will be acquainted with the basic concepts and problems of ethics, its historical development and perspective. They will be introduced to the issue of codes of ethics, and related ethical principles in the conduct and behaviour of health professionals. The issue of ethical dilemmas in the social and medical field, and the birth, development, meaning and perspectives of Christian ethics will be mentioned. Man's relationship to life (respect for life, suffering, illness and death). Problems associated with the performance of the helping profession. Special attention will be paid to the issue of the nutrition of seniors and cancer patients (among other things).

Prerequisites
Students will mainly master the theory of Christian ethics and get acquainted with the practical approach of the health care professional towards clients. The content of lectures and exercises will focus on the nutritional needs of children, the elderly, and the acutely and chronically ill.
