Course content
Course contents: 1 lecture 2 hours 1. Theory of the state - origin, development, features, function, concept, forms of the state, the rule of law. 2. Theory of law - the phenomenon of law. 3. Theory of law - legal norms, sources of law and law of the Czech Republic, system of law. 4. Theory of law - realization of law within legal relations. 5. Theory of law - application of law and legal responsibility. 6. Constitutional law - concept, constitutional development, sources, Constitution of the Czech Republic, Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms. 7. Constitutional Law - Legislative power, executive power and judicial power, Constitutional Court. 8. Constitutional law - Supreme Audit Office, Czech National Bank, territorial self-government. 9. European law - fundamentals, historical development, system of European Union institutions. 10. European law - primary and secondary law of the European Union. 11. Criminal law - basic terms, elements and signs of substantive criminal law. 12. Criminal law - selected facts of crimes. 13. Criminal law - principles of criminal proceedings, its course. 14. Summary. Seminars: 1. Anthropological (psychological) bases of the origin of the state. 2. Law and man, law and society. 3. Creation, promulgation and derogation of legal norms. 4. Assumptions of legal relations. 5. Subjective and objective responsibility. 6. Basic human rights and civil rights - the difference. 7. System of brakes between state authorities. 8. Independent and delegated powers within territorial self-government. 9. The EU judicial system. 10. Secondary EU law. 11. Criminal liability. 12. The facts of crimes against freedom and crimes against human dignity in the sexual field. 13. Criminal sanctions. 14. Preliminary criminal proceedings.

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge enabling them to acquire not only a basic orientation in the legal system and the most important legal regulations, including EU law, but also to shape their ability to apply this knowledge in the performance of social work and in civic life.
Studying the subject Law 1: Acquired Competences Students will acquire knowledge and understand the principles of the rule of law, the basic concepts of the theory of law, constitutional order of the Czech Republic, the structure of the legal order of the Czech Republic, the organization of state administration and self-government in the Czech Republic, basic concepts, elements and features of substantive criminal law, selected facts of crimes, principles of criminal management, its course, fundamentals of law and institutional breakdown within the EU. By studying Law 1, the student is able to: to clarify the functioning of the state and to respect the competences of the competent authorities, to explain the division of powers, the legislative process, to analyze the legal norm and the legal relationship, to apply legal norms to specific cases.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of secondary education in law.

Oral examination, Didactic test

Self-study Credit - conditions of obtaining: 80% attendance at seminars + presentation and defense of seminar work + written test Exam - conditions of obtaining: obtaining the credit + successful passing of the oral exam.
