Course content
1. The one-electron atom of hydrogen, basics of quantum theory 2. A many-electron atom, periodic table of elements 3. Chemical bonds 4. Non-bonding interactions 5. Gases, liquids and solids, phase transitions 6. Chemical thermodynamics 7. Chemical kinetics and equilibria 8. Solutions 9. Electrolytic dissociation, acid-base reactions, salts 10. Redox reactions, basics of electrochemistry

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Preparation for classes - 30 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 5 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The one-electron atom of hydrogen, basics of quantum theory. A many-electron atom, periodic table of elements. Chemical bonds.
After completing the course the students should understand to general physical phenomena that govern the chemical processes including applications and they should routinely perform basic chemical calculations.
Prerequisites
At least basic knowledge of physics is welcome.
