Course content
Contents: 1. Quality of professional information and sources of professional information 2. Databases with Internet access 3. Search in Medline/PubMed and Web of Knowledge 4. Formal features of high-quality scientific work 5. Principles of oral presentation 6. Students presentations of their current results for the prepared bachelor works After passing the course, students of the combined study programme will have the same knowledge and skills as students of the full-time study programme: effective understanding of professional information and the presentation of laboratory results to the scientific forum. Students will gain theoretical knowledge through studying the recommended literature, which they can then transform into practical skills. These skills can be used for preparing their seminar papers and their final thesis. The course classes include explanations and demonstration of the most difficult topics. The assessment consists of a seminar paper (submitted by e-mail), an oral presentation and a written test.

Learning outcomes
The goal of the seminar is to teach the student to acquire efficiently professional information and to present laboratory results in professional forum. The student will do it within preparation for defence of his/her own bachelor thesis. The course takes place in two-hour blocks every other week.
Acquisition of basic knowledge and skills of laboratory research.
Prerequisites
Conditioning subjects: 0 Completion of compulsory subjects allowing to elaborate bachelor thesis.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test, Seminar work

Requirements for granting the credit: 90% attendance at seminars, the student can register this seminar after the Faculty has approved him/ her the assignment of bachelor thesis.
