Course content
Content of this course is introduction to English technical terminology in the range of thematic areas of secondary mathematics curriculum. 1. Bilingual education, CLIL method, math and English. 2. Resources for teaching mathematics in English, methodical portals, foreign information sources. Thematic units: 3. Number theory, divisibility, set of numbers, sets. 4. Algebra, expression, polynomials and their properties. 5. Equations and systems of equations. 6. Linear algebra, matrices, determinants. 7. Elementary algebraic function, graphs. 8. Nonalgebraic functions. 9. Goniometry and trigonometry. 10. Plane geometry, solid geometry. 11. Analytical geometry. 11. Combinatorics and probability. 12. Statistics, data. 13. Sequences, series. 14. Calculus. 15. Integrals.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Activating (simulations, games, drama)
  • Preparation for classes - 80 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 26 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 30 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The goal of this course is to explain one specific method of teaching mathematics in English, with bilingual method and with bilingual teaching method CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). This is one of the major trends in European education and is supported by the Ministry of Education.
Students will be able to apply CLIL methods when teaching at secondary schools.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of specialized terminology in English. English level B2.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student portfolio analysis, Interim evaluation

Performance in classrooms in front of colleagues, preparation of materials and methods.
