Course content
Lectures: 1.- 2. Communication as nursing skill (process and technique) structure, types, transaction analysis, verbal, nonverbal communication, paralinguistic, 3. - 4. Communication the phases of nursing process (interview, conversation) therapeutical communication skills (counseling, group work) dignity, identity, respect, tolerance in communication, compassion and empathy 5. - 6. Self awareness - emotions and communication, aggressive communication (documentation, management, electronical communication, presentation), communication patterns, difficult communication styles 7. - 8. Nursing communication with clients in crises situations, dying clients and their bereaved 9. - 10. Alternative concepts and models of care connected with communications kills and meeting patients need of safety. Basal stimulation, Snoozeling, Validation, kinestetics, E. Böhm Psychobiography model of care Seminar: 1.- 2. Acquaintance with the group, eye and touch contact, first impression, realize the elements of social communication, oral introduction, training of reflection and self-reflection 3.- 4Difference in perceiving verbal and non-verbal impression, etiquette theory 5.- 8. Training of nonverbal technique (proxemics, mimic, eye contact, position, gesticulation, post urology, kinetic, touch, basic elements of basal stimulation) 9.-12. Training of verbal techniques (speech , paralinguistic) 13.-14. Motivation for communication, active and passive listening 15.-16. Assertive communication 17.-18. Aggression in nursing, communication with aggressive patient 19.-20. Empathy, therapeutic interview

Learning outcomes
To teach the students the principals and skills of adequate communication not only with clients/patients but also with coworkers.The student is prepared in order to master the theory of communication, to understand the significance of self-reflexion and to be able to use efficient communication skills at providing nursing process even in multidisciplinary team
Student uses the communication theory in practice " uses selfreflection outcomes " declares effective communication principals " expresses and shows nonverbal communication skills " expresses elements of assertive behavior " applies nondirective conversation skills " analyses verbal and nonverbal behavior of patients " distinguishes the specific communication with children and young -youth " distinguishes the specific communication with handicapped , mentally ill, dying and bereaved persons
