Course content
The skills needed to achieve the level required in accordance with the specificity of philogiques studies are: - Lexical and civilizational content - Reading - Listening - Production / written interaction - Production / oral interaction 1. Technology, technophobia, and technophilia 2. Children in front of screens and expressing cause 3. Antispeciesism and ethical debates about animals 4. A world in transition and social change 5. The Citizens' Convention and environmental engagement 6. Brexit and European issues 7. Presentations on the European Union and speech preparation 8. Gender inequalities and social stereotypes 9. Women in the media 10. The relationship between studies and the labour market 11. The French and money 12. Love marriage and expressing opposition and concession 13. Inequality between men and women and early prejudice

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to strengthen students´ communicative skills and competencies in the standard French language at the level of C1 according to the Common European Framework for Languages.
- The student understands complex spoken discourse, including lectures, presentations, and authentic audiovisual materials. - The student analyses long and complex factual texts as well as texts of contemporary prose. - The student orally reproduces and synthesises information from several authentic documents. - The student presents a point of view in a structured, coherent, and well-argued manner. - The student participates in advanced discussion and defends arguments in a relevant and effective way. - The student writes an argumentative text meeting C1-level requirements. - The student adapts register, style, and text organisation to the communicative situation. - The student masters the technique of written synthesis based on multiple sources.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Essay, Student performance assessment, Analysis of student's language skills

Regular attendance, regular vocabulary tests, final written and oral assignment. Possibility of exemption from the final test on presentation of a DALF diploma and under certain conditions.
