Learning outcomes
The main objective of this course is to strengthen and consolidate students' language skills in their second language, at the B2+/C1- level across all communication skills: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, and oral and written expression. During the course, students will develop greater fluency and accuracy in both spoken and written language, expand their vocabulary and improve their understanding of texts and spoken language in different contexts. In addition, they will work on improving their linguistic autonomy, which will enable them to communicate with greater confidence in everyday, academic and professional situations. The course uses a balanced approach that combines communicative practice, language strategy development and grammatical analysis to ensure a steady progress in all areas of the language.
- The student produces coherent and well-structured discourse on complex topics. - The student accurately uses a wide range of linguistic tools to communicate effectively. - The student distinguishes significant nuances in extensive and specialized texts. - The student integrates their own and others' opinions into a coherent discourse.
Prerequisites
No special prerequisites.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Essay, Student performance assessment, Analysis of student's language skills

To successfully complete the course, the following requirements must be met, with a minimum overall score of 70% (the numbers in brackets indicate the weight of each component): - Final exam (based on the DELE exam): 60% * (3 attempts) - Moodle test: 25% ** (2 attempts) - Presentation: 15% *** - A student can have up to 3 absences during the semester. * The final exam is inspired by the DELE B2/C1 exam, but with a modified number of tasks and adapted assessment. The exam is worth a total of 100 points, and a score of at least 60 points is required to pass. Each language skill (writing, speaking, reading comprehension, and listening) is weighted equally at 25 points. If a student fails in a particular skill, they will only need to retake that specific skill, not the entire exam. This retake will be scheduled for a later date and will count as a new exam attempt. Each student has the opportunity to take the final exam up to 3 times. Three exam dates will be available in the STAG system from the start of the course, and students can register immediately after successfully completing the Moodle test. Due to classroom capacity and the number of students, the instructor may offer a total of 4 exam dates, but this does not mean that the student has 4 opportunities to complete the exam. ** The Moodle test assesses the grammar and vocabulary covered during the course. Passing this test is required to register for the final exam. If a student fails the Moodle test, they will not be allowed to take the final exam, as it is assumed they do not possess the required language proficiency (B2+/C1-). Each student has two attempts to pass the Moodle test. The first attempt will take place during the last week of lessons, as part of the regular 0SJ7 course sessions. Each group will take the test on its own scheduled date and in its own classroom. The maximum grade for the Moodle test is 10 points; a minimum of 7 points is required to pass. Students who fail the first attempt will have a second chance during the exam period. If a student fails the second attempt, they will not be permitted to take the final exam. *** Another requirement is to create an individual or group presentation (depending on the number of students in the group) on a current and relevant topic from the Hispanic world. Topics, as well as requirements and assessment criteria, will be available in the Moodle system throughout the semester. The aim of this assignment is to improve students' oral skills and provide them with the opportunity to develop transferable communication competence in Spanish. Students enrolled in the 0SJ7 course studying abroad under the Erasmus+ program who wish to earn credits for this course must complete the Moodle test (weighted at 30%) and, upon passing it, take the final exam (weighted at 70%). Like students attending the course in person, Erasmus+ students have two opportunities to pass the Moodle test and three opportunities to pass the final exam.
