Course content
|
The main goal of the course is to present the basics of Spanish legal system and language, which is used in different types of legal and administrative texts. The course will start with a theoretical introduction to diverse topics (see Syllabus) followed by detailed examples of corresponding administrative-legal documents (Spanish Constitution, Civil and Criminal Code, sentences, contracts, etc.). We will accomplish a further analysis of these documents and compare them with similar texts in the Czech system. Special attention will be dedicated to the Spanish legal system. Note: The course analyzes the administrative-legal language used in Spain, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands. The administrative-legal language of other Spanish-speaking countries is not included.

Learning outcomes
|
The main objective of this course is to provide students with language skills needed in the domain of law and administration.
Students should develop language competencies end lexicon needed for the domain of Spanish law and administration.

Prerequisites
|
The course assumes knowledge of the Spanish language at B1 level.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination
To successfully complete the course, the following requirements must be met, at a minimum of 70% (the numbers in parentheses indicate the share of the total score): - Final test: 60%. *The student has two attempts at a credit test (one regular and another one corrective). - Oral presentation: 15% - Regular-active participation and tasks in class: 15% - Class attendance (the student can have 3 missed classes): 10% Students enrolled in the URO/7APS course who are on Erasmus+ must follow the course under the same requirements, with the exception of class attendance (10%) and the submission and correction of in-class assignments (15%). These percentages are automatically added to the value of the final exam (60% = 85%), which will have two additional questions related to the materials covered in class and available on Moodle. Additionally, the student will have to give an oral presentation (15%) during the exam period to pass the subject.
