Course content
1. Module I - Lesson 0: El espa?ol en el mundo. Basic information about the language, pronunciation, alphabet. 2.-3. Lesson 1: Hola, ?qué tal? Greetings, introductions, basic communication, verbs llamarse, ser. 4.-5. Lesson 2: ?Estudias o trabajas? Personal information, professions, present tense of verbs, verbs tener, querer. 6.-7. Lesson 3: La familia, bien, gracias. Family, possession, basic description of people, verbs tener, ser, estar, articles. 8.-9. Module II - Lesson 4: ?Menuda clase! School, subjects, daily activities, verbs hacer, haber. 10.-11. Lesson 5: No hay nada como estar en casa. Housing, description of space, verbs haber, tener. 12.-13. Lesson 6: Ciudadanos del mundo. Nationalities, travel, verbs ser, estar, haber, quantifiers mucho, poco.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basics of another Romance language at the A1 level and to develop their communication skills in common everyday situations. The course focuses on the gradual acquisition of pronunciation, spelling, basic grammar, and elementary vocabulary. Instruction is based on the Descubre textbook, which serves as the primary resource for developing language skills and grammatical structures.
- The student describes basic language skills (pronunciation, spelling, elementary grammatical structures, and vocabulary) at the A1 level. - The student identifies basic everyday communication situations and the language skills needed to handle them (greetings, introductions, asking for information, etc.). - The student characterizes simple language structures and their function in basic communication situations. - The student applies the acquired language skills in simple oral and written expressions. - The student uses basic communication strategies when communicating in everyday situations.
Prerequisites
Prior knowledge of another Romance language is an advantage, as the course may be taught by native Spanish speakers.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Interim evaluation

1) Regular-active participation (the student can have 3 missed classes). 2) Different tasks at home and during the lesson. 3) Written exam (the student has two attempts at the test (1 regular and 1 corrective). Exams and examinations will be written in the exam period according to the dates of the Faculty of Philosophy. Requirements for students participating in the Erasmus+ programme (learning mobility or internship) for whom this course cannot be recognised as another course taken at a foreign university:: 1) Self-study of the material covered in class (possibility of pre-arranged consultations) 2) Completion of a test after returning from the stay/internship (within the deadline set by the schedule for the academic year).
