Learning outcomes
The course builds on Business Spanish I. It further develops specific language skills for international business in a Hispanic environment, in terms of vocabulary (business companies, purchase agreements, logistics, Incoterms, payment terms) and grammar (e.g., prepositions, connectors, deverbal nouns, shortening subordinate clauses by half-ties, use of the subjunctive and indicative in subordinate clauses, conditional clauses). Emphasis is placed on transferring theoretical knowledge into oral and written practice through simulations of situations common in the business world (e.g., logistics: informing the customer about the shipment of ordered goods, complaints about delivered goods; purchase contract: drafting it according to a model template; business project: group presentation of a fictional company and product at a trade fair). By completing the course, students will expand their existing knowledge and deepen their communication skills in business Spanish.
By completing the course, students will acquire the ability to communicate effectively in Spanish in basic and advanced international business situations, both in spoken and written form, taking into account the linguistic and cultural norms of the Hispanic environment. Learning outcomes: (a) The student actively uses specialized business terminology in Spanish in typical international business communication contexts, both in written and oral production. (b) The student applies advanced grammatical structures of Spanish characteristic of business discourse (prepositions, connectors, deverbal nouns, reduced clauses, conditional clauses) when producing coherent and formally appropriate texts. (c) The student uses the indicative and the subjunctive in subordinate clauses to express requests, instructions, conditions, and consequences in business communication, including reported speech. (d) The student produces functionally and stylistically appropriate business texts in Spanish (model-based sales contracts, business correspondence, logistics-related communication, complaints) using stereotypical formulas. (e) The student simulates oral business communication in Spanish in professional contexts (providing information, negotiating, problem-solving, presentations), taking into account the pragmatic and politeness norms of the Spanish-speaking environment. (f) The student reflects on linguistic and pragmatic differences between Hispanic and Czech business discourse and is able to take them into account in their own language production.
