Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the issues of radicalism, extremism and terrorism as politically motivated violence. The course will guide the audience through the history of the development of this form of mediating interests, distinguish between forms of terrorism, and present the current professional approaches explaining the commission of this criminal activity together with the best-known models depicting the developmental stages of an individual's radicalisation. Last but not least, diagnostic tools of extremism and levels of analysis will be presented in the context of diagnostic indicators and foreign and Czech projects of the security community.
After successfully completing the course, the student will be able to distinguish terrorism from other types of violent crime, understand the methods of terrorist attacks and their impact on the civilian population, and orientate themselves in the anti-terrorist policy of the Czech Republic and the EU.
