Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is the study of events associated with the adverse effects of CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosive) substances. In addition to basic general knowledge, students will be provided with more detailed information about selected aspects of CBRNE events, especially regarding impacts on the population, the possibility of applying protective measures, prediction of consequences and modelling. The course will also include an analysis of synergistic effects when different types of events interact. Attention will also be paid to the national legislative framework of the issue of CBRN events in the context of international standards and recommendations. In seminars, experiences from accidents that have already occurred will be presented, including their impact on the population protection system. Furthermore, some specific emergency plans and scenarios will be analyzed here, the main principles of their development will be presented, and a model draft of a hypothetical emergency plan will be created.
After successfully mastering the subject, students will be able to have a basic orientation in the field of CBRNE events. This will enable them to participate in some sub-tasks of population protection, creation of emergency plans and crisis management. Students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the security segments of state administration, company management, public institutions or education. The acquired knowledge will also be a suitable treasure for subsequent master's studies.
