Course content
|
Classes: 1. Explanation of basic terms - substitute education, substitute family care, institutional education. 2. Basic legal regulation applicable to substitute family care - the Family Act, the Social-Legal Protection of Children Act, Convention on the Rights of the Child 3. Basic forms of substitute family care - adoption, irrevocable adoption, international adoption. 4. Foster care, temporary foster care, foster care institutes - SOS Child Villages. 5. Other forms of substitute family care - guardianship, fosterage to other person that child´s parent, distant adoption. 6. Substitute family care indication. Legally free child. Mental deprivation. 7. Child suitable for adoption. Child suitable for foster care. Procedure applied by Municipality Authorities when reporting on children suitable for substitute family care. Child registered maintenance by the Regional Authority. 8. Applicants for substitute family care - motivation of applicants for substitute family care, procedure applied by Municipality Authorities when maintaining documents of an application for substitute family care. 9. Professional assessment of applicants for substitute family care by Regional Authority of MPSV. 10. Maintenance of the register of applicants for substitute family care by the Regional Authority or MPSV, preparatory training of applicants for substitute family care 11. Mediation of substitute family care - bodies, basic definitions. 12. Mediation of substitute family care - council, meeting the child, visit in the children´s home. 13. Pre-adoption, pre-foster care. Material security of substitute families. Work with families upon mediation of substitute family care. 14. Identity of children and parents in substitute family care. Telling truth on adoption. Hit rate of substitute family care.

Learning outcomes
|
Within the subject students will learn on situation of children suitable for substitute family care, ways of dealing with application for inclusion to resister of people suitable to become adoptive parents or fosterers, mediation of substitute family care. Within the subject students will learn about provisions of fundamental legal regulations applicable to substitute family care, including findings of psychologies and comments of adoptive parents.
The student has good grasp of basic concepts from the area of substitutive family care - differentiation of individual forms of substitutive family care, method of record keeping of children suitable for substitutive family care, method of record keeping of applicants for substitutive family care, mediation of substitutive family care.

For a credit students will be required to demonstrate basic knowledge in substitute family care - debate with students.
