The course of study focuses on international social work, which is difficult to define comprehensively. Worldwide recession, globalization of economic systems, increased inequality within and between nations, large-scale migration movements, increased risk of pandemics, climate change, natural disasters and new forms of social conflict are forcing social work practitioners, educators and social development professionals to find new ways of responding to these new realities.
