Course content
Teaching of this course will be done as theoretical part - lectures and practical part - exercise: Main topics of the lectures will be: 1) Introduction, importance of aquaculture and its current production, 2) Production systems and their specifications, 3) Use of innovative breeding methods and practices in aquaculture, 4) Use of food organisms for effective intensive rearing of larvae, 5) Industrial salmon farming, 6) Breeding of sea bass and sea bream, 7) Importance and innovation of the reproduction of pikeperch, 8) Innovation of aquaculture in pikeperch, 9) Tropical ornamental aquaculture in the Czech Republic and in the world, 10) Ornamental fish for aquarium purpose I., 11) Ornamental fish for aquarium purpose II., 12) Ornamental fish for aquarium purpose III., 13) Reproductive dysfunction in aquarium fish or artificial spawning. Topics of exercise will be: 1) Control of maturation stage in gamets in broodstock of one selected fish species, 2) Artificial spawning including egg fertilization and incubation in one selected species, 3) Controlled culture of larvae and juveniles of one selected species.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to provide students with innovative theoretical and practical knowledge and skills leading to effective species diversification of freshwater aquaculture. Students will gain theoretical and practical experience concerning the optimization of each aquaculture production system, including the implementation of effective species-specific reproduction, nutrition, domestication process and the basics of intensive breeding of the most economically important and ornamental coldwater, subtropical and tropical fish species. The subject will explain the principle of sustainable and effective aquaculture of the fish species, including the use of various biotechnological techniques to streamline their culture and increase profitable and continuous production of market fish of each species.
Graduates of this course will be able to practicaly use reproduction and aquaculture techniques during spawning and aquaculture of supplemental fish species in RAS or ponds. The aim of this subject is increase diversification of European aquaculture in future.
Prerequisites
Before this course, students must complete the subjects "Pond Aquaculture", or have finised a university degree in field "Fishery".

Oral examination, Combined exam, Seminar work

100% participation in full-time teaching (lectures and exercises), Correct answer to three questions during exam.
