Learning outcomes
|
The goal of the subject is to extend and deepen the knowledge of organic chemistry acquired at the secondary school with focusing on natural substances as a necessary theoretical basis for the study of biochemistry and related subjects. The lectures are structured into three themes: theoretical basis, systematic part, natural substances and organic contaminants and pollutants. In particular systematic groups, emphasis is given on the effect of various functional groups on physical, chemical, and biological properties of compounds.
The student should be able to name organic compounds and recognize differences between basic types of organic substances and estimate their physical and chemical characteristics.
