Course content
1. Characteristics, development, current trends, specifics of intensive breeding and outlook in freshwater and marine aquaculture. 2. Commodities of aquaculture in the cross-sectional spectrum of production and trade opportunities. 3. Commodities of regional aquaculture in Europe and major world aquaculture products. 4. Aquaculture products in human nutrition, their nutritional and biological value and consumption. 5. Freshwater fish. Sea fish. Characteristics of species usable in the food industry. 6. Marine molluscs and crustaceans. Cephalopods. Their preparation and transport. 7. Possibilities of processing and evaluating the production of freshwater and marine aquaculture. Main technological processes in processing important commodities. 8. Development of new products from fish raw materials, value-added products, utilization of waste products and their valuation. 9. Methods for determining the quality of aquaculture products. 10. Legislative security. Customs classification in the area of aquaculture commodities. 11. The EU Common Fisheries Policy. EU standards for fish products. 12. Trade measures and trends in fish trade. International Fisheries and Fisheries Agreements. 13. Competitiveness in the fisheries sector. Operational programs. 14. International organizations and management instruments. Common Fisheries Policy - CFP. FAO Fisheries Committees. Federation of European Producers in Aquaculture - FEAP.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to gain knowledge in freshwater and marine aquaculture, in commodities of regional aquaculture in Europe and also major world fisheries and aquaculture products. acquaint acquaint Acquinted students with the Czech and European legislative aspecrs in fisheries.
Students gain knowledge for a broader assessment of the quality and representation of the range of fish and other aquaculture products in the market. He/she will gain knowledge of business and technology in this sector.
Prerequisites
Standard knowledge in biology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Knowledge of specific issues of fish flesh. Knowledge of market and quality assortment of fish and other aquaculture products.
