Course content
Feeding of farm animals in general principles. Modification of foods - biological, chemical. Ensilage of feeds, silage technologies. Microorganisms in the silages. Preservative compounds for ensilling. Determination the methods of silage analysis and evaluation. Determination of sensoric methods of feed evaluation. Special analyses and using of chemical - biological methods determination of digestibility.

Learning outcomes
The subject evolves the knowledge obtained by study of Basic of Farm Animal Feeding and Nutrition. This subject deals with essential methods and procedures in modification of feeds with the aim to improve their utilization. The subject pay attention to legislative problems in this branch with a view to welfare of animal breeding and environment protection.
Competence on the importance and functions of essential nutrients in the animal organism. Ability to characterize feeds, suitability of classification for livestock. Competence for appropriate preparation and preservation of feed in relation to individual species and categories of livestock.
Prerequisites
Basics of nutrition and feeding of livestock.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Test, Seminar work

The course is completed by an exam, which precedes the continuous assessment; fulfillment of requirements (successful evaluation of the test) required to meet the subject.
