Key learning outcomes The bachelor study program Aesthetics is designed for students interested in the study of aesthetics, art, and culture. The study is based on the tradition of the discipline, as it has been constituted from the second half of the 18th century to the present. It reflects the changes that have occurred during its development, while also addressing the most recent topics that have been established in the field of aesthetics (e.g. the relationship of high and popular culture, environmental aesthetics, etc.). The content of the study is primarily the basic aesthetic and art theories, the basics of philosophy, the history of individual arts (literature, fine art, photography, architecture, film, music), as well as the theory of culture. The basic curriculum consists of two key areas: the aim of the study is both provide the student with knowledge of the basic concepts of philosophical aesthetics, its history and related general theories of culture, and with the basic orientation in theory and history of individual arts. In this respect, the study has a distinctive comparative and interdisciplinary dimension - the emphasis is on reflection of both relations and specifics of different types of art. However, the key frontier phenomena of aesthetics such as kitsch, popular art, and the aesthetic appraisal of natural and non-artistic phenomena are also explored. The aim of such conceived study is to prepare academically educated specialists able to apply their knowledge and skills not only in the field of aesthetics, but also in a wide range of cultural institutions.
