Course content
|
Content of lectures: Classification of plants with emphasis on the group of plants listed in Appendices I, II, III to CITES. Each taxonomic group is described with respect to the structure, morphology, ecology, event. cultivation problems, the protection ex situ and in situ, as well as geographic distribution, use, and sources of threats. Basic legislation related to cultivation, propagation, and the collection and trade in these plants or their parts.Content of practical training:Work with a microscope and determination of selected species. Excursions to the plant collection of the Institute of Botany, CAV Třeboň, to botanical gardens and private collections of plants.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to give an overview of biology and plant distribution of plants included in lists of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), their position in the taxonomic system, reasons for inclusion in CITES, related legislation. Causes of threats, possibilities of protection, principles of their cultivation. The course builds on the subject of Botany.

Prerequisites

At least 80% attendance at seminars, incl. exkurses, basic knowledge of plant biology and botany
