Key learning outcomes During the study, students will first learn the basics of major biological disciplines (botany and zoology, basics of ecology, genetics). In addition, the field includes several issues. The protection of nature itself is crucial, especially at the species level. It is closely related to the breeding of pets and the cultivation of collection plants (whether in zoological or botanical gardens or hobby or commercial breeding) and international trade in them. Here we pay particular attention to the issue of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, known by the acronym CITES. An integral part of the study are subjects that increase the overall qualification of students and bring them generally useful skills, such as the ability to understand professional text, ability to search and critically evaluate information, knowledge of successful presentation of not only professional information, group cooperation, communication, etc. emphasis is placed on the language skills of graduates.
Specific admission requirements Certificate about high school completion (certificat about successful "maturita" exam)
Specific provisions for recognition of prior learning unspecified
Qualification requirements and regulations The qualification requirement for the study of a bachelor's degree is a completed secondary education with a GCSE. The advantage for studying the field of Biology and Conservation of "Hobby" Organisms is a higher level of knowledge of biology and chemistr
Profile of the programme Academic
Persistence requirements unspecified
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples Graduates of the field are equipped with the necessary knowledge in three areas interconnected into a qualification unit: o Biology of cultivated collection plants and farmed animals of interest and their geographical distribution, o Principles and methods of cultivation and breeding of plants of interest and animals, which also include the basics of care for the health of cultivated plants (plant medicine) and the principles of veterinary care for farmed animals (zoohygiene), o Legislation, which includes knowledge of the necessary laws and regulations governing the operation of growing and breeding in the commercial and interest sphere, as well as knowledge of legislation related to international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora.
