Anthropologists have long been in pursuit of understanding of what constitutes humanity. In particular, they have been ?concerned with human beings and their problems, their relationships with the environment, and many other dimensions of ?human life. This course is intended to explore such queries. To that purpose, in this course, we will survey various ?responses provided by philosophers throughout history, ranging from those the Anglo-Saxon tradition provides to ?the more European approaches. In particular, the course will engage in contemporary discussions, such as the meaning ?of vitality, the problem of the soul, the role of the body in human existence, and so forth.?
