Obsah předmětu
Cvičení: 1. First class - Introduction to the course -Aims of the course and Overview of the CAE components - Requirements for attaining credit - achieve at least 60% on two writing assignments and on two tests plus mandatory attendance. - Short ice-breaking video on robot comedy with discussion. 2. Future Forms and Predicting - Discussion about predictive shopping - Grammar- Future Forms review - Using the future tenses to make predictions - Use of English Part 1- Multiple choice-cloze 3. Past Tenses and Telling Stories - Grammar; review of the past tenses - Giving explanations using the past perfect tenses - Telling stories - Use of English part 2- open-cloze 4. Writing Formal Letters, Proposals and Reports - This week we will work on three common writing tasks that take place in Writing Part 2 of the CAE exam. During the CAE exam candidates must write one of the these three options - A formal letter - A report - A proposal 5. Listening parts 1 and 2 Listening - Part 1: Short Extracts - Multiple Choice - Part 2: Sentence completion - TED talk on Challenges video 6. Exam week The first of two tests will take place this week The test covers the Use of English parts 1 and 2 plus Listening parts 1 and 2 Feedback and classroom discussion 7. Model verbs and Speculating - Grammar; Model Verbs review, past models - Murder mystery deductive listening activity - Use of English Part 3 Word formation 8. Conditionals and Problem Solving - Grammar; Conditionals review - Using conditionals in spoken English - Consolidation; using conditionals and past models together to analyze mistakes, give possible past alternatives as well as practicing speculating, assuming and being hypothetical 9. Mixed Conditionals and Wish Structures- Dreams and Regrets - Grammar; Mixed conditionals and wish structures review - Talking about our dreams, ambitions and regrets - More consolidation; integrating conditionals, wish structures and model verbs to express how changes in the past and present can affect our dreams and ambitions in the present and future - Use of English part 4- Key word transformation 10 Writing Essays -Writing Part 2- Essays -This week we will work on the second compulsory part of the CAE writing section. Students will learn the structure of essays and essay plans as well as learning how to condense complex thoughts and ideas into coherent sentences. The use of cohesive devices will be key in helping students to link ideas into complex sentences. 11. Indirect and Reported Speech - Grammar; Review of Indirect speech - Reported speech structures - Using reporting verbs to explain why or how someone else spoke 12. Passive Voice and Emphatic Structures - Grammar; The Passive voice review and uses - A look at the many ways to emphasize in English 13. Listening Parts 3 and 4 - Listening Part 3-Multiple Choice Part 4-Multiple Matching 14. Second exam test

Výstupy z učení
The main aim of this course is to help students gain the tools and skills required to be able to engage in advanced English language discussions fluently and confidently as well as improving students' reading and writing abilities. This will be achieved through a mix of reading articles, watching videos and classroom and pair work activities and discussions. All lessons will involve vocabulary acquisition and target grammar to be used during each lesson. The secondary goal is to go through the different parts of the Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) exam so that students become familiar with the exam itself and to learn different tips and strategies for passing the exam.
Student je po absolvování předmětu schopen složit mezinárodní zkoušku úrovně C1v celém rozsahu v jakékoli instituci, která je oprávněna zkoušku poskytovat.
Předpoklady
Znalost anglického jazyka na úrovni B2.
