Course content
Cattle breeding importance, number, and performance of cattle in the Czech Republic and abroad, production types of cattle, basic cattle breeds and their characterization, evaluation of exterior and its relation to yield capabilities. Milk and meat performance, influences, aspects affecting it. Cattle fertility, control methods of cattle reproduction process and reproduction indexes. Control the heredity of production traits and prescription breeding value. The selection programs, testing. Welfare of animals end ethics of breeding. Technology of stabling of individual categories of cattle. Breeding of cows without commercial production of milk. Cattle herd turnover and economics of breeding.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to expand the knowledge of Ph.D. students acquired in various master's degree programs, and thus provide Ph.D. students with the latest knowledge that is crucial in increasing of animal performance and profitability of breeding.
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills for work of zootechnics - specialists for cattle breeding.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, genetics, zootechnics and animal nutrition.

Oral examination, Seminar work
