Course content
Content of laboratory excercises: Exercise No. 1: Calibration of micropipettes. Exercise No. 2: Spectrophotometric determination of iron in water. Exercise No. 3: Determination of acetic acid and hydrochloric acid using alkalimetric titration with potentiometric and conductometric indication. Exercise No. 4: Direct potentiometry determination of fluoride in toothpaste using fluoride ion-selective electrode (F-ISE). Exercise No. 5: Determination of phenol and 1-naphthol in water using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet spectrophotometric detection (RP-HPLC-UV). Exercise No. 6: Determination of magnesium and calcium in drinking water using flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FA-AAS).

Learning outcomes
To acquire knowledge of using of basic instrumental analytical methods.
Student will acquire knowledge of using of basic instrumental analytical methods.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of principles of spectrophotometry, titration, potentiometry, liquid chromatography and atomic absorption spectrometry. Good knowlegde of chemical nomenclature and chemical calculations.

Assessment methods and criteria
Development of laboratory protocols

To pass the course student must fulfill incoming test, perform all laboratory exercises, fulfil outgoing test and hand in all laboratory protocols worked out in sufficient quality.
