  • Preparation for classes - 35 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 75 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course of general and physical chemistry for chemists illustrates the basic principles and concepts at a level that can be understood by a chemistry students in their first year of study.
Students understand principles of general chemisry and fundamentals of physical chemistry. Students are able to apply the principles to solution of simple problems (calculation, derivation). Students understand usage of basic physicochemical principles in selected experimental techniques used in biological and medical applications Students are able to apply the theoretical knowledge on solution of practical problems (calculations, derivations).
Prerequisites
Compulsory prerequisite: either UMB 010 or UMB 565.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam

To pass the examination, students must obtain at least 50 % of points in each part (theory + calculations) of a combined (written + oral) examination test. Outline of the principle facts in the individual topics is to be found on MOODLE.
