Learning outcomes
The goal of the course is to understand the field of pathology (pathological anatomy) as an integral part of the clinical diagnostic algorithm in the investigation of many diseases. The course focuses on the basics of pathological and anatomical terminology, knowledge of examination methods in pathology, understanding the causes and other processes associated with disease, and selected diseases of organ systems with an emphasis on diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. The aim of the lectures is to acquaint students of nutritional therapy with pathophysiology, especially diseases related to nutritional pathology and therapy. It is conditional on the completion of the courses of Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology. Students will gain theoretical knowledge that will be used in the practical application of nutritional pathology in patients.
Students will improve their knowledge of functional physiology, which will be enriched by the morphological basis of these conditions. They will gain this context from the book of Střítecký. They will also gain an overview of the importance of the field of pathological anatomy, its professional terminology and examination methods, basic knowledge of general and special pathology, taking into account the essence of the field of study. Students will mainly get acquainted with the pathogenesis of diseases, especially those that require nutritional therapy. They will use their knowledge in clinical dietetics and professional practice.
