Obsah předmětu
|
The ever-increasing level of international trade, travel and transportation has led to a massive exchange of plant and animal taxa worldwide, with a number of introduced species gradually increasing in new areas. Nowadays, biological invasions (BI) are seen as one of the greatest global threats affecting biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. The costs related to the invasive species eradication and mitigation of their impacts are overwhelming. Knowledge of this issue is a prerequisite to understand the functioning of changing freshwater communities and predicting these changes. The main topics of the course are: 1) the history, terminology and significance of BI 2) theories and hypotheses of BI will be put to the context of animal 3) theories and hypotheses of BI will be put to the context plant invasions 4) including the issue of emerging infectious diseases 5) social perception 6) introduction pathways 7) distribution patterns 8) impacts and management of BI 9) tools of risk assessment and ecological modelling 10) a series of prominent invaders related to freshwater ecosystems will be presented

The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the issue of biological invasions in freshwater ecosystems.
Úspěšný absolvent předmětu získá základní znalosti související s příčinami, procesy, dopady a managementem nepůvodních druhů ve sladkovodních ekosystémench.

|
Předmět nemá prerekvizity. Doporučeným předpokladem pro úspěšné zvládnutí předmětu je absolvování kurzu Ekologie.

Oral exam; further requirements: elaboration and presentation of seminar work on selected invasive species followed by common discussion.
