Operations management is the set of activities that creates value in the form of goods or services by transforming inputs into outputs. Regardless of whether the end product is good or service, the production activities that go on in the organization are referred to as operations or operations management. The subject deals with issues of production management and labour processes, first of all with methods of labour improvement, labour environment (ergonomics), layouts and material flow design, value analysis, quality control, process management and new trends (smart systems, robotization, Industry 4.0, cloud).
Students will understand the basic methods concerning production planning and managing and performance measuring. They will be able to make analysis of different operations or processes and make improvements in saving necessary time, space, effort, costs. Special importance is given to lean production and process management methods.
