The students will learn the terminology and definitions of multilingualism and its impact on people, society and languages. The students will have an understanding of how language is acquired. They will recognize differences in language policies in Germany and France. They will use specific case studies of institutional multilingualism in Europe with a focus on the European Union (including the institutional language regime) and especially on Germany and France. They will be able to transfer their knowledge of globalized multilingual work contexts to other countries and regions.
