The course " Molecular Biology & Biotechnology of Cyanobacteria " will target students who would like to deal with the use of cyanobacteria in modern biotechnology in the future The course will be led by molecular biologists with many years of experience in the physiology, morphology, mutagenesis of cyanobacteria. General knowledge will be combined with practical applications in biotechnology. In addition to physiology, morphology, the lecturers will introduce signal and regulatory pathways of cyanobacteria. They will explain the methods used for mutagenesis of these pathways and its use in the production of valuable compounds. They will also discuss omic analyses (Whole genome sequencing, proteomic and transcriptomic analysis) and their use in biotechnology. At some lessons, students will be given short homework that should lead them to reflect on the problem discussed in class. In addition to the theoretical classes, the course will include laboratory practise where they will experience the modern methods used in cyanobacterial molecular biology.
