Obsah předmětu
The course will be divided into: 1. Rearing fish in ponds - Pond as a structure, characteristics and technical features - Pond as an ecosystem - basic pillars, food pyramid and fish weight gain - Fish's living conditions - oxygen regime, pH and water temperature, other important physico-chemical properties of water - Carp breeding in ponds - breeding procedures, various techniques of rearing fry, fingerlings and marketable fish. - Additional breeding fish species - production of tench, whitefish and herbivorous fish (grass carp, silver carp and bighead carp) and carnivorous fish species (Northern pike, pike-perch and wels catfish) - biodiversity, breeding procedures, various techniques of rearing fry, fingerlings and marketable fish. - Harvesting, transporting and rearing techniques for fish - Amelioration - remediation treatments used in ponds (wintering, letting, liming, fertilization, de-sedimentation, etc.). 2. Cage farm - principles of culture and species related specifics in cage aquaculture systems, requirements for cage breeding species with regard to specifics - Traditional techniques of cage culture in Asian countries (Thailand, Vietnam, India) - The recent innovations of offshore cage systems in Norway (one of the world's leading cage fish producers) and the directions in which this way of farming is taking place. - "Partioned aquaculture systems" - including examples of farm designs and setup from North America and Ireland. - Systems that use a combination of pond culture and recirculating aquaculture systems - Systems that utilize high stocking densities of fish in part of the system, application of formulated feeds, elements for water movement and pond environment for degradation of fish metabolites. - Multitrophic aquaculture systems or technologies combining the production of more aquatic organisms in one system. - Outdoor recirculation aquaculture systems of "Danish" type, including description of construction, efficiency, positives and negatives of this technology.
