Lectures will focus on the following topics: 1) Introduction to the subject, introduction to literature, seminars topics. 2) Morphology and functional anatomy of crustaceans 3) Morphology and functional anatomy of molluscs. 4) Native species. 5) Non-native species. 6) Importance of crayfish and bivalve molluscs for ecosystem. 7) Rescue programs. 8) Agricultural and forestry management in relation to species protection. 9) Practical determination of native and non-native species. 10) Repatriation, reintroduction and fishery management. 11) Diseases. The aim of the course is to get the knowledge of biology and methods of protection of freshwater crustaceans and molluscs living in open waters in the Czech Republic, including practical conservation measures leading to species protection. Special attention will be paid to the practical determination between native and non-native crayfish and bivalve species living in the waters of the Czech Republic. Students will be acquainted with reproduction and migration strategies of native and non-native species of crayfish and bivalve molluscs. Attention will also be paid to management of localities, both open waters and fish ponds with respect to their protection, including the surrounding agricultural and forest management. Basic information related to legislation concerning the protection of these animals will be provide as well.
The aim of the subject is to give detailed information on biology, methods of conservation and breeding of crayfish and molluscs. Give information about different methods of crayfish and mollusc breeding and catching. Special attention give to practical recognition native and non-native species.

Recommended prerequisites are basic knowledge about biology of freshwater animals and passing exams in Protection and culture of crustaceans and molluscs, Zoology, and Hydrobiology.
