Obsah předmětu
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of radiobiology, i.e. mechanisms of action of radiation on living organisms, with diagnostics and assessment of the extent of damage to the organism, with possibilities of pre-medical care and possibilities of prevention. A related topic is radiotoxicology, which studies effects of internal radioactive contamination. Lectures Weeks 1 - 2: Basics of radiobiology, mechanisms of ionising radiation action at the molecular level Weeks 3 - 5: Mechanisms of ionising radiation action on the cellular, biodosimetry Weeks 6 - 8: Diagnostics and treatment of radiation sickness, possibilities of prevention Weeks 9 - 11: Late effects of exposure to ionizing agents, radiation risk assessment Weeks 12 - 14: Basics of radiotoxicology, uptake, distribution and of radioactivity in the organism Seminar Weeks 1 - 2: Physical units for the assessment of radiation damage Weeks 3 - 5: Dose-effect relationships of radiation action. Assessment of radiation damage Weeks 6 - 8: Principles of radiation protection Weeks 9 - 11: Practical radiation protection, incl. decontamination procedures Weeks 12 -14: Assessment of the consequences of accidents and terrorist attacks

The student will be able to apply the knowledge obtained in practice (e.g. the use of suitable protective equipment - biovak).

Ústní zkouška, Kolokvium
Individual preparation and elaboration of a seminar paper on a selected topic: the seminar paper will respect the general rules for bachelor or master theses valid at ZSF. The paper work will be about 10 pages of pure text. The introductory page, content, list of abbreviations and literature list are not included in this count. Students are obliged to comply with the citation standard ČSN. 90% attendance at seminars is required.
