Key learning outcomes
|
In this bachelor's degree specialization "Animal Husbandry", students are prepared for comprehensive professional activities in animal production at the level of agricultural farms (concerns) and for works in breeding and breeder's organizations. This specialization prepares graduates of grammar schools and secondary vocational schools for practical employment in the field of livestock breeding on farms, family farms and concerns. Graduates of this specialization have theoretical and practical knowledge of the breeding of individual species of livestock based on the theoretical foundations of zoology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology and knowledge of biochemical processes and functions taking place in the body of animals. This knowledge is supplemented by knowledge of the principles of technology and technics of breeding, management, organization and economics of production, including quality assurance of production. Attention is also paid to the protection and health of animals, ethics of breeding, the relationship between man and animal, and the secondary functions of agricultural production with regard to environmental impacts and maintaining the character of landscape and its management. Graduates of this specialization find wide application in agricultural primary production, or in service and consulting organizations, suppliers and breeder's associations. They meet the requirements for employment in organizational functions of breeder's organizations and companies and companies focused on animal nutrition and reproduction. The best graduates can continue to improve their qualifications in a follow-up master's degree.
