Key learning outcomes The Bachelor's degree program History of Art is oriented towards the study of fine arts and architecture. Its aim is to prepare university educated specialists capable of critical thinking, theoretical insight and practical application. The study is designed as a three-year course and takes place only in full-time form. In addition to a common foundation, the student will go through courses that give him a deeper insight into the background, content, form and function of works of art and architecture from antiquity to the end of the 20th century. They will also become acquainted with the historiography of the field of art history and current methodological approaches in the analysis and interpretation of a work of art. The student will learn to use basic tools of art history, allowing deeper understanding of a work of art, such as Christian and profane iconography, and will go through courses that prepare him for the practice of art historian in various cultural institutions. The study program is designed to provide students with quality education in the field of art history and at the same time to show potential future specialization and also to open space to study other historical or humanities offered at the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia or other universities. All this will provide graduates with high-quality equipment to facilitate their employment in today's labor market.
