Course content |
The trends in growing and economic importance of yield crops in the Europe and the Czech Republic. The measurement methods of plant growth and development. The principles of yield formation and reduction. Cereals - yield potential, growth and development. Wheat, rye, barley, oat, triticale, corn - history, biology, varieties and seed, technology of growing, harvest and storage. Leguminous plants - botany charakteristics, growth and development, formation of yield, symbiotic nitrogen fixation. Peas, horse bean, fieldbean, soybean, common wetch - history, biology, varieties and seed, technology of growing, harvest and storage. Oil crops - economic importance, position in plant production. Winter rape, mustard, sunflower - history, biology, varieties and seed, technology of growing, harvest and storage. Importance of fibreflax - history, biology, varieties and seed, technology of growing, harvest and postharvest technology of fibre flax. The economic importance of root crops. Sugar beet - history, growing in the Czech Republic and Europe. Learning outcomes |
The aim of this course is to obtain general kowledges of plant production under field conditions in the Czech Republic. The most important species are selected in every group of field crops to obtain basic theoretical and practical principles of growing of plants.
Students are able to orientate in the field crops growing. |
