Course objectives:
|
Introduction to British Studies is a seminar focusing on basic fields of British cultural studies, i.e. history, British traditions, regional identities, history and transformations of the English language, British visual culture, pop culture and the problems of modern Britain. It is an introductory seminar, so no prerequisites are required.
The aim of the seminar is to make students acquainted with the abovementioned basic fields of British cultural history. The seminar is interdisciplinary and discusses historical, linguistic and culturological problems. It may help students to deepen their understanding of English studies and thus integrate their various aspects.

Requirements on student

Requirements include regular attendance, reading assignments and an oral presentation. Credits will be given for passing the final test.
