Key learning outcomes The branch of study Agricultural Biotechnology - Plant is focused on applied issues of genetics, microbiology and molecular biology and their use in plant biotechnology, food and pharmacy. The study is focused on the theoretical area of genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, physiology and biochemistry, as well as on the basics of plant production. The study specialization Plant Biotechnology in the form of optional subjects enables a deeper orientation on specific issues of genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology of plants and plant cells, cultures of plant explants in vitro. Great attention is paid to mastering of laboratory methods and procedures and to manage modern laboratory equipment. Thanks to the combination of theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills, graduates find employment in specialized microbiological, food, diagnostic and clinical laboratories, state administration laboratories or can continue in their studies.
Specific admission requirements Certificate about high school completion (certificat about successful "maturita" exam)
Specific provisions for recognition of prior learning unspecified
Qualification requirements and regulations Successful graduation from high school with a general certificate of education. The advantage for studying the field of Agricultural Biotechnology is a higher level of knowledge of biology, genetics and chemistry.
Profile of the programme Academic
Persistence requirements unspecified
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples Graduates are able to apply the acquired knowledge in the field of plant biotechnology, especially in the field of laboratory techniques and processes. The graduate has suitable practical laboratory skills, is able to manage instrumentation and manages the procedures used in molecular and microbiological laboratories and biotechnological business. The graduate is also equipped in terms of language skills, masters statistical methods and is familiar with information sources.
